the Gyum.

#1: Last week I took a walk to the WorldVision Talin office. It is about a 15 minute walk, which in Talin standards is equivalent to running an IronMan. Yes, I am awesome. This is a picture of Hayk (one the WorldVision employees) and I in front of his truck. It is noteworthy because it runs and has multicolored doors. He was proud and to be honest, I love it too.

#2: Welcome to Gyumri. Meet their lion. Yes, they have a lion…in the smallest cage ever. Also, please take note of the security measures. Is that the same lock that Zach Morris had on his locker at Bayside? It just might be…it just might be…

#3: After taking note of the “local wildlife” we went on a ferris wheel ride in Central Park. There were several great pictures that Steve Martin (a fellow PC volunteer and Mrgashen alum) took that would have captured the moment, but I preferred this one, as it shows Kim and I analyzing the integrity of this Soviet era structure.

#4: Here is a shot of three other Gyumri Volunteers (Martha, John and Mike) enjoying their view of the 2nd largest city in Armenia.

#5: The view from the tip top.It was a little hazy, so you cannot see Mount Aragots (the highest peak in Armenia) in the left corner of the picture. The plan is to hike up it next Sunday!!

#6: This is inside one of the many cafes located in Gyumri. Didn’t know that Rainforest Cafe was located overseas. World: You are most welcome.

#7: The next three photos were taken inside the newest addition to Gyumri’s nightlife: Wonderland!!! A three story arcade that could rival even Chuckee Cheese..yes, I said it.SKEEBALL!

#8: BOWLING!

#9: Kim and I embracing our Disney roots. I think we both teared up at this moment.

#10: This is a shot I took as I left the WorldVision office. I will be back and hope to help out a lot with them over the next 2 years. their website: https://communities.worldvision.ca/Talin/Pages/about.aspx

It was a great weekend in Gyumri and now I am back in Talin gearing up for what may be the first week of school for me..haha. We shall see. Regardless, I have my first language lesson at 4pm tomorrow with one of the local high school Armenian language teachers. We have scheduled to meet three times a week (MWF from 4-5:30!). So, I am hoping to be fluent by October :)

Hope you are having a great weekend & Sirem em dzez!
